India stands at a historic crossroads. For decades, forces that could neither defeat nor dominate this civilizational nation have adopted a more insidious strategy: if you cannot rule the nation, break the nation. The 2014 Intelligence Bureau report — a document of extraordinary clarity and courage — laid bare this very design. Foreign-funded NGOs, operating under the noble-sounding banners of human rights, indigenous rights, environment and "sustainable development," were systematically weaponised to obstruct India's energy security, industrial growth, nuclear programme and territorial integrity. The estimated cost: 2–3 per cent of GDP every single year.
This was not spontaneous activism. This was coordinated, well-funded, meticulously planned interference by Western governments, foundations and their proxy organisations — what nationalists correctly identify as the operational arm of the Deep State.
Understanding the Deep State Assault
The Deep State is not a conspiracy theory. It is the network of unelected bureaucracies, intelligence-linked foundations, corporate philanthropies and activist organisations in the United States and Europe that pursue long-term strategic objectives independent of electoral cycles. When a rising India — democratic, civilizational, and increasingly assertive — began to challenge the post-Cold War order, these networks responded not with open confrontation but with "soft power" warfare: funding local NGOs to create permanent roadblocks to growth.
The IB report is clinical in its findings. Donors cleverly disguise their money as support for "human rights," "just deal for displaced persons," "protection of livelihood of indigenous people," or "religious freedom." The real purpose is to internationalise every local grievance, build a permanent dossier of "violations" against India, and keep the country in a state of under-development. Greenpeace International and CORDAID focus almost entirely on such disruption. Others — ActionAid, Amnesty International, Survival International — dedicate portions of their budgets under the veil of "democratic accountability" and "economic fairness."
The Nuclear Offensive: Targeting India's Strategic Autonomy
In 2011, the nearly commissioned Russian-assisted Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project was stalled by protests led by S.P. Udayakumar and a cluster of Western-funded NGOs. Eight of the eleven organisations involved were FCRA-registered and had received ₹80 crore in foreign funds between 2006–11, more than half of which went to two Church-linked entities in Tuticorin.
The conspiracy deepened when German national Sonntag Rainer Hermann was found with a scanned map of all of India's nuclear plants and uranium mines, along with contact details of 50 Indian anti-nuclear activists. The map was deliberately handwritten on slips to evade electronic detection. Network analysis revealed a "Superior Network" driven by Greenpeace and pan-India organisations (CNDP, NAAM, PMANE, NAPM, PUCL, INSAF) coordinating five territorial networks across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Meghalaya. The same networks later instigated protests at Jaitapur, Fatehabad, Kovvada, Chutka, Rawatbhata and other sites.
This was not environmental concern. This was a systematic attempt to deny India nuclear energy independence — a capability the Western powers themselves possess in abundance.
Anti-Coal Campaign: Greenpeace's War on India's Energy Security
Greenpeace India received ₹45 crore in seven years — 94 per cent from Greenpeace International and Climate Works Foundation. It created a "Coal Network" specifically to take down India's 455 proposed coal-fired power plants (520 GW). NTPC was ranked the "first offender." Protests were manufactured in Singrauli (15,000 MW, set to double), Sasan UMPP, and later targeted Mundra, Korba, Raigarh and other industrial hubs.
Greenpeace financed studies, documentaries ("Coal Curse"), and even attended international strategy conferences in Istanbul where India was explicitly identified as the primary target for global anti-coal activism. It violated FCRA by engaging with political parties. Its cyber systems were upgraded by foreign experts with encrypted software. The goal was clear: force India to abandon the cheapest and most reliable baseload power source available to a developing nation of 1.4 billion people.
GMO, POSCO, Vedanta and the North-East
Anti-GMO activism, led by a handful of activists and Greenpeace, successfully delayed Bt Brinjal for years despite the spectacular success of Bt Cotton that transformed India from a net importer to the world's second-largest exporter. False claims of animal deaths after consuming Bt Cotton leaves were never substantiated by independent research.
POSCO and Vedanta projects in Odisha faced sustained campaigns by Amnesty International, ActionAid and Survival International — organisations that received funds from George Soros' Open Society Foundations and other Western sources. Investors were pressured to withdraw. Corporate rivalries were allegedly channelled through American and Canadian NGOs to the tune of ₹50 crore annually.
In the North-East, Dutch government-funded CORDAID shifted focus from Kashmir to oil exploration by Jubilant Energy in Manipur, big dams in Arunachal Pradesh, and mining in Meghalaya. Training camps in Bangkok and Shillong taught activists GPS mapping and GIS techniques to create "community authentication" data for international litigation under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Trainers openly claimed that oil reserves belonged only to local tribals and that the Indian Army was being used to "steal" resources under AFSPA.
Future Targets: Palm Oil, Construction Workers, E-Waste, River Linking, SIRs and DMIC
By 2014, Greenpeace was already planning campaigns against palm oil imports, organising construction workers as a cadre of permanent protestors, and attacking Indian IT firms on e-waste while ignoring multinational companies generating similar waste. Parallel networks targeted the Par-Tapi-Narmada river interlinking project, Gujarat's Special Investment Regions (Dholera and Mandal-Becharaji), and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor — projects critical for national infrastructure and employment.
The Nationalist Response: RSS and BJP as Guardians of the Nation
Against this sustained campaign of economic sabotage stands the nationalist tradition represented by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Unlike the Congress-era ecosystem that treated foreign-funded activism with indulgence or even collaboration, the RSS has always viewed national sovereignty, civilizational continuity and economic self-reliance as non-negotiable. The BJP, as the political expression of this worldview, has prioritised development, energy security, infrastructure and a strong state capable of resisting external interference.
The 2014 report itself was prepared during a period of political transition. Subsequent years saw tighter scrutiny of FCRA violations, cancellation of registrations of organisations that persistently violated the law, and a clear political will to prioritise national interest over the manufactured outrage of foreign-funded lobbies. Projects that were stalled for years began moving again. Nuclear capacity expanded. Coal production rose to meet the needs of a growing economy. Industrial corridors and investment regions advanced despite organised resistance.
This is not authoritarianism. This is the minimum duty of any sovereign government that refuses to allow its developmental trajectory to be dictated by foreign foundations and their local proxies. The RSS's emphasis on character-building, national unity and cultural confidence provides the social foundation without which no political leadership can permanently defeat such campaigns. The BJP's focus on "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" and Atmanirbhar Bharat is the practical policy response to the Deep State's strategy of perpetual under-development.
Conclusion: Sovereignty Is Non-Negotiable
The Intelligence Bureau report of 2014 remains one of the most important documents of independent India's recent history. It demonstrated that the threat to the nation does not always come in the form of tanks and missiles. Sometimes it comes in the form of grants, reports, "capacity-building workshops," and carefully orchestrated street protests.
Greenpeace, Amnesty International, ActionAid, CORDAID, Survival International and their associated networks are not neutral humanitarian organisations when they operate in India. They are instruments of a larger geopolitical design that seeks to keep India dependent, divided and slow-growing. Their activities must be treated as such — with the full force of law, intelligence capability and political will.
A strong, prosperous, self-confident India is the greatest answer to those who believe that if they cannot rule this ancient nation, they can still break it. The nationalist forces — rooted in the organisational discipline of the RSS and the political determination of the BJP — have understood this truth. The task ahead is to remain vigilant, to continue exposing foreign-funded disruption, and to ensure that India's developmental destiny remains firmly in Indian hands.
